FED:Leaders praise those away on Christmas

Both the prime minister and opposition leader have praised those who've given up their
Christmas to keep Australia safe or help those in need.

JULIA GILLARD has thanked rescue workers battling floods at home .. and Australian
troops risking their lives overseas .. saying many people sacrifice their Christmas Day
to make life better for others .. and it's hard to think of a more generous Christmas
present than that.

TONY ABBOTT says we should all spare a thought for those who make our country safer
.. stronger and more prosperous.
