FORMER Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was fined [pounds sterling]20million by a court in Cairo yesterday for cutting off mobile phone and internet communications during the protests that swept the country in January.
Two of his officials, former prime minister Ahmed Nazif and former interior minister Habib el-Adly, also were ordered to pay [pounds sterling]4million and [pounds sterling]31 million respectively.
Mubarak, 83, still faces more serious allegations, including ordering the killing of protesters - a charge that could carry the death penalty.
