Vic: Tram operators and government confident of resolution = 2

A Swanston Trams spokesman says he's confident the parties will reach agreement today
and the stop work won't go ahead.

He says the timetable being proposed is actually a Saturday timetable, and the change
is a rostering issue.

He says a meeting with the union is scheduled for this afternoon.

A Yarra Trams spokeswoman says she's also confident of a resolution today.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for state Transport Minister Peter BATCHELOR says he believes
an agreement has already been reached between the union and Yarra Trams.

The spokesman says he's hopeful that talks between the union and Swanston Trams will
head-off the stop work.

Mr BATCHELOR says the service changes proposed won't adversely affect tram users.

He says arrangements are being made to move crowds expected for the Boxing Day Test cricket.
