WA: Van Tongeren in court charged with four arson plots

White supremacist leader JACK VAN TONGEREN has appeared in a Perth court charged with
criminal damage and conspiracy to commit arson.

The leader of the Australian Nationalist Movement was arrested yesterday after a week-long
manhunt, which ended when a member of the public spotted him entering an RSL club in central
Perth.

After being questioned for several hours last night, he was formally charged and appeared
before magistrate ROBERT BLACK this morning.

Mr BLACK told the court the arson charges related to four separate conspiracies between
June the first and July the 16th this year.

He said VAN TONGEREN was accused of plotting to cause criminal damage by setting fire
to properties in the Perth suburbs of Willeton, Karrawarra, Ferndale and another unknown
location.

VAN TONGEREN's lawyer, BRIANNA LONNIE, told the court she was not instructed to apply for bail.

The case has been adjourned to the Perth Court of Petty Sessions on Wednesday of next week.
